For Green Leaves

On Resolutions

I started this blog on January 2, but it wasn't a new year's resolution.

I built a home gym on December 31, but it wasn't a new year's resolution.

So why did I do these things? They certainly weren't in my brain before I started them. (... Well almost ... I had been meaning to start a blog for well over a year, and a home gym for about ten.)

It's tempting to blame the New Year. But I don't think that's right. My New Year's Resolution was to carve out more time for myself, so exercise and writing is certainly a part of that, but I think the reason it happened now was because I have had almost two weeks off from work and been home with the kids. The change of pace -- both frenetic and relaxing at the same time -- has fired neurones off into random places and, not being chained to the 9-5, I could actually go and do the things!

So I don't think the change from '24 to '25 meant anything at all. It was just time and energy and freedom that made these things happen.

I don't think there's much more to add than that ... There's no point here, just a thought -- some more random neurons firing into place.

Be interesting to see if I am still doing this on January 3.
